Meet Dr. Maltba

Meet Dr. Emily Wheeler Maltba

Dr. Emily Wheeler Maltba received her Bachelor of Science in Nutrition degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and her Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) degree from East Carolina University.

After graduating from dental school, she completed an Advanced Education in General Dentistry residency at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Fayetteville, NC.

Dr. Maltba grew up in Morganton, NC, where her parents still reside. She developed an interest in dentistry inspired by admiration for her own dentist as a child and teenager. She has one sister, Jenny, who lives in Arlington, VA. Dr. Maltba is happy to be living back in Western North Carolina with her husband, Nathan, and their two coonhounds, Moose and Maple.

She is a lover of learning and enjoys dental continuing education to continually improve her knowledge and skills. Dr. Maltba values working with patients to achieve their personalized and ideal dental health and she understands that each patient will have unique goals and desires.

Outside of work, she enjoys reading, hiking, cooking, doing puzzles, and watching movies. She and Nathan recently developed a love for national parks together and have a bucket list of all of the national parks they would like to visit someday. Their current favorite is Glacier National Park. She is a big fan of Carolina basketball (Go Heels!), True Crime (i.e. Dateline), and going for a walk almost every evening.
